A tribute to another timeless figure, Simone Veil, for her strength, feminism, humanism, and most of all determination to stand up for what she thought was right. At a time when the right to abortion is being challenged in Western countries, this tribute to Simone Veil reminds us of her struggle and achievements. A nod to these bold women and the essential values for humanity.
Simone Veil was a French politician and lawyer who became the first woman to serve as President of the European Parliament. She is best known for her advocacy for women's rights, particularly for her instrumental role in legalizing abortion in France in 1975. Veil also fought for the rights of prisoners, victims of Nazi crimes, and for European unity. She survived the Holocaust and was deported to Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II. Throughout her life, Veil was a trailblazer for women's rights and a symbol of hope and resilience.
